Up Dog Yoga, L.L.C. - Private and Group Yoga Instruction

About Dana Walters

Like many people, I have tried many different types of physical exercise- step and floor aerobics, running, and kickboxing, just to name a few-  but there was always, for me, the sneaking suspicion that the impact to my body produced by these activities potentially did more harm than good. I finally decided that low-impact exercise was the best thing for my body. It was in my search for gentler forms of exercise that I uncovered a love for yoga. I have now practiced since the mid-1990's and even found that my yoga practice helped with rehabilitation following a serious accident in early 2007.

Asana, or the postures of yoga, is only one part of the Eight Limbs (or Ashtanga) of Yoga, a traditional system which brings dedicated practitioners to a state of wholeness. Most people in Western culture come to yoga for its physical benefits, but find that its meditative and mindfulness practices provide so much more.

On a physical level, I enjoy greater flexibility, strength, balance,  and an enhanced sense of well-being as a direct result of my own regular yoga practice. My desire is to help my students achieve these same benefits, and so much more. I recently completed my 500 hour certification with Rolf Gates, Master Vinyasa Yogi and author of the acclaimed book Meditations From The Mat. I have also studied with Elephant Journal and Yoga Journal contributor Kathryn Budig as well as John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga and Judith Lasater, author of Relax And Renew. For the yogi or yogini seeking meditative stillness in the practice, I now offer Restorative Yoga instruction as well.
